Our swedish friend Hans Annellsson "plays the music of Frank Zappa - ONE MORE TIMO FOR THE WORLD" at 28th of November at Dunkers Kulturhus in Helsingborg and at 4th of December at the Kulturbolaget in Malmö. We hope to get some MP3-Files from these events.

11.11.2003:  Magic Band
The recently reformed Magic Band will do some more gigs in 2004. The Magic Band has two UK concerts scheduled for the new year. The first is at The Royal Festival Hall in London on Friday 23rd January. On the following evening, Saturday 24th, they play at The Liquid Room in Edinburgh. Ticket sales have begun. The possibility of The Magic Band performing at European festivals next summer is being explored. There is a new Beefheart-CD announced: "Dichotomy" contains rare outtakes and recordings from 66 - 71. The CD will be available from 25th of October on.
25.09.2003:  Rockette Morton
We are in contact now with Mark Boston aka Rockette Morton. We hope to make his new CD soon available via "Troutmaskrecords". We also try to get an exclusive interview about the recent activities of the Magic Band.

Doctor Dark will play live as opener for John Sinclair (ex-manager of the MC5) at 28th of September at BAR, New Heaven, CT.

On the Zappanale 14 we got the lucky chance to meet "Doctor Dark", a Beefheart-Tribute Band from the States. This band played an awesome gig and got the whole crowd dancing and grooving to the Captain's sound. The band was highly surprised and pleased by the reaction of the people and there is hope that they will get some more attention in the future. Troutmask has the permit of the band to distribute their live recorded CD in europe and you can order the CD by sending us a mail. The price is 12,-€ and it's really worth to get. The Grandmothers will play live at the Jazz Festival in Frankfurt/Main, Germany on 5th of October.

The Zappatistas will play live at the Jazz Festival in Frankfurt/Main, Germany on 3rd of October.

20.07.2003:  Finkenbach Festival
There is once more a "Finkenbach Festival" near Heidelberg at the 25th, 26th and 27th of July, which is organized by Guru Guru´s Mani Neumeier. It´s worth going there, if you won´t be at the Zappanale the same weekend. There are some good bands playing, including Man and Damo Suzuki.

14.07.2003:  Napoleon M.Brock
Napoleon M. Brock is actually finishing a second CD and heads on to setup a new band. He will also do some touring in europe, joining the Muffin Men in fall. This man was nearly disappeared from public attention since a long time. But since 1998 you can hear the legendary voice on several gigs with the US-Bands Bogus Pomp and Project/Object. To top it all, he rejoins the original Grandmothers in 2003 and i´m sure this gents have to give us some more nice music.

13.07.2003:  Magic Band CD
The New Magic Band CD "Back To The Front" is available since now by amazon.de or amazon.com. You should soon be able to order this gem in our shop. It´s more than 30 years ago that these guys stayed with the Captain and it looks like there is some more coming in the future. Would you have ever been keen enough to think of a real COMEBACK. So, there is nothing left than to welcome them with open arms and ears.

We are proud that Jimmy Carl Black (Bavaria) will join us with his Inkanish productions. His personal label has released fantastic music and is worth to get some more PR.

Mark Boston alias Rockette Morton is proud to announce that he has finished a new Solo-CD called LOVE SPACE with contributions from old friend Zoot Horn Rollo. You can get a copy from Mark´s Website www.rockettemorton.com. Troutmask Records hope to be first to offer you this gem in europe as soon as possible. All these activities around the Magic Band gives massive hope for a better time than the long period during we get rarely any tunes from these fantastic guys. Could tell you that I listened actually to some rare stuff of INSTRUMENTAL-OUTTAKES from the early seventies: The Magig Band UNBEEFED. Hope to get this to your ears some day.

Octafish (Germany) is welcome as a new addition to Troutmask Records. This Band will play on the Zappanale with Mike Keneally joining them.

30.06.2003:  French Zappa-Festival
Our Friends from Nasal Retentive Orchestra will play on a 3 day long Zappa-Festival in Bordeaux. The Festival will take place from 11th - 13th of September. Bands to play there: Graphiose Band, Children Of Invention, Nasal Retentive Orchestra, Gary Lucas and some more.

29.06.2003:  Zappatistas
The superb Zappatistas with John Etheridge on guitar will play at London Covent Garden on 24th of July and at the Oxford Festival on 03rd of August. And by the way: There is a nice Live CD available from this highly recommended band.

28.06.2003:  Muffin Men
One more date to pay attention: The Muffin Men will play a full orchestrated gig at the Hackney Empire, UK on 04th of November.

27.06.2003:  Grandmothers
The Grandmothers will play a gig at Victors By the Day in San Francisco on 11th of July. There are plans in the air to come back to europe in fall and there is even one date announced yet: In October they will play at the Jazz-Festival in Frankfurt, Germany.

26.06.2003:  Nasal Retentive Orchestra
The Nasal Retentive Orchestra (France) joins Troutmask Records. They have two CD´s out, Have A Bun and Fric Out! and a new one is awaited in july.

25.06.2003:  Ed Palermo
Ed Palermo has to tell the bad news: He will tear the plug from his long living Zappa Project. Due to personal reasons, but also as a lack of greater acceptance he will embark for new tasks. There will be a final concert in New York´s Bottom Line at 25th of July. It will shure be a great performance and there should be some special guests, too.

24.06.2003:  UAE
Morgan Agren (Sweden), owner of the UAE Label will provide us with his catalogue which contains also a Denny Walley production and the great Playing The Music Of Captain Beefheart Live, which is a powerful performance of some of the captain´s finest music.

20.06.2003:  Magic Band
As we told you before, the Magic Band recorded some sessions while rehearsing for the actual gigs. This recordings will be published by the All Tomorrows Parties Label as "Back To Front" !! And more of the goodies are that the band is planning doing more gigs in fall. We keep you INFORMED.

There will be a speciale event in Würzburg, Germany on 15th of June 2003. Mani Neumeier will reunite with the ex-member of Guru Guru, Ax Genrich, one of the most "psychedelic" guitar player in the universe. They will be accompanied by Dave Schmidt, wellknown from Weltraumstaunen & Liquid Visions. There will be a special lightshow, too.

04.06.2003:  Date Cancelled
From John French on 04.06.03: The Magic Band is sad to announce that the LA ATP concert scheduled for June 22nd, 2003 had to be postponed. The new concert date is tentatively scheduled to be September 27th 2003. Although disappointed, we're determined to make the September performance be even BETTER than the June show would have been. Thank you for your support and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

New CD with rare Live-Recordings from the Captain and his Magic Band ! As a follow-up to Magnetic Hands this CD covers the Captain`s live appearances in the Unites States from 1970 to 1981. Some is wellknown stuff, some is previously unreleased.

ARF-Society presents 12 Bands from all over the world - performing the music of Frank Zappa. Last year the Arf-Society installs a monument of Frank in Bad Doberan and with all the guests, including Frank`s sister Candy and his brothers Bob and Bill, it was a real Freak Out with an A Capella version of "It can`t happen here.." in Bad Doberan`s park, performed by a bunch of Grandmothers. For the first time since 35 years,Jimmy Carl Black and Roy Estrada recorded together. Roy came over to visit Jimmy in Bavaria and what else should they do as to record some music. Out of that came the CD …..

27.02.2003:  Grandmothers Live
The Grandmothers played live tonight at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig. They did a 3 hour lasting celebration of old Mothers-Songs and some compositions of Don Preston, performed with orchestra. Warner Classics will publish this concert on CD at 05.05.2003.

08.04.2000:  Magic Band Live
The Magic Band played two UK-Gigs on 6th and 7th of April ! Last year Denny Walley, John French, Robert Williams, Rockette Morton and Gary Lucas started rehearsals to prepare for some exclusive gigs in 2003. The first couple of these gigs took place in Shepherd`s Bush and UK All Tomorrow's Parties, Camber Sands, East Sussex . The Magic Band UK Shepherds Bush Empire, London Monday 7th April 2003. . The crowd was in an exstatic state and the performance must have been absolutely wonderful. There are some reviews available and if you are lucky enough to live in California you should not miss the US-Gigs in June. Rumours say that there will be a new CD in summer and maybe some more gigs !
